Tips for Searching

At present, it is possible to list all the items in New South Wales and in the database simply by clicking on the submit button. It is also possible to search on any or all of the search keys.

To search for an item on name, enter the name or part of the name. For example, for the Yiu Ming Temple, enter "yiu" or "ming" or "temple" or "Yiu" or "Yiu Ming Temple". In each case, all the items containing all of the words you enter will be returned to the screen.

Keywords like "temple", "market"and "church" will tend to return multiple items. In this case, simply click on one of the items returned to display all the information in the database about that item.

To search on owner category, enter words like "religious", "urban" or "land" into the search box and click on the submit button.

If you wish to narrow your search, enter an item in both the name box (say "temple") and in the owner category box (say "religious") and a list of temples owned by religious bodies will be displayed.

The more words you enter, the fewer items will be returned. Case is ignored.
